ABSTRACT
The work presents a general description of modern representatives of the herpes virus family, some of their features, and ways of spreading the infection. Information is provided about the herpes simplex virus type I, its clinical signs, symptoms, routes of infection into the body, pathogenic manifestations in the oral cavity (such as ulcers and blisters). General symptoms such as fever, lymphadenopathy, malaise and periodontal manifestations are presented. Since the majority of the population is infected and is considered a permanent carrier of this virus, treatment features and general approaches are also discussed.
