ABSTRACT

Introduction: Small-caliber corneal transplantations (tectonic keratoplasty or patch graft) are performed in corneal perforation or descemetocele for permanent or temporary tissue repair. The goal of the surgery is to restore the integrity of the eyeball and prevent further inflammation and complications, while improving visual acuity.
Methods: From 2016 to 2022, at the Malayan Ophthalmological Center, tectonic keratoplasty was performed on 3 patients with immune lesions of the cornea. Two of them had corneal perforation, and the third had descemetocele with toxic limbal stem cell deficiency.
Results: All three patients had a positive outcome after surgery. The integrity of the eyeball was restored, the development of possible complications was prevented, and visual acuity even improved.
Conclusion: Tectonic keratoplasty or patch graft can be considered one of the optimal surgical methods for patients with a history of corneal perforation.
